I always love seeing returning clients, this little girlie came to visit me earlier on in 2022 for her Little Smiler session at just a few months old -- fast forward to now, my last session of 2022 and she's all grown up! What a difference half a year can make, all grown up and ready to celebrate her 1st birthday in style with a bespoke cake smash session. Her mama had requested a Boho theme, incorporating neutral, earthy tones with a dash of pink. I absolutely love this setup, it has been one of my most popular cake smash setups for girls this year and I have no doubt it will be equally as popular in 2023! CAKE SMASH PHOTOGRAPHER IN SURREY, HAMPSHIRE, BERKSHIRE
Part 1 - The Portrait Session I always start out the session by capturing a few shots of the birthday boy or girl in a lovely outfit, either chosen from the studio wardrobe or brought along from home. Ottie is wearing one of my many floral crowns, these have been so popular to incorporate in both newborn, sitter and cake smash sessions and this gorgeous orange toned halo suits the setup so well!
Part 2 - The Cake Smash!
I work closely with a local baker who creates most of the cakes for my sessions - Ottie's cake was made by her and it suits the colours of the setup beautifully! One advantage of booking the cake with my baker is that the cake will be a perfect match with the setup -- and you will also have the option of having the cake delivered straight to the studio, which means there is one less thing for you to worry about on the day! One of my absolute favourite parts of shooting a Cake Smash Session is seeing their reaction to having their cake placed in front of them - it can vary from disbelief to pure and utter joy! It's very likely the first time in their life that they've had a whole cake put in front of them to do with what they wish, so you just never quite know how they're going to react.

Part 3 - Splish, Splash, Splosh
Cake smash sessions can get very messy so bath time is the perfect way to clean up whilst having fun!
I love nothing more than watching my clients' babies grow and develop, which is why it means so much to me when my clients return to the studio, allowing me to photograph their babies growing up ♡

Are you looking to book a cake smash session for your little one?
My cake smash & splash sessions start with capturing a few shots of your little one in an outfit of your choice (either one picked out of my studio wardrobe or one you've brought yourself). Then we get your little one changed into their cake smash outfit and let them have some fun getting stuck into their cake! Some children are initially not that keen on getting messy and may need a bit of gentle encouragement, others take to it straight away and relish the opportunity to get messy! The final part of the session is a nice, warm bath in my washtub with lots of bubbles.
A Cake Smash & Splash is a fun-packed session and a unique way to commemorate a birthday, whether that be a 1st, 2nd or 3rd birthday!
