There are so many photographers out there, all with different styles and different price points. Initially, this may feel a little overwhelming - where do you even begin?! To help you on your journey, here are some ways that may make the decision a little easier.

STYLE & PORTFOLIO
This is probably the first thing most people will look for - do you like the photographer's style of photos and does their portfolio appeal to you? A good place to start is to have a look at their portfolio on their website and social media accounts.
Some photographer's style is very simple and minimalistic where as others love to use colours and props. Some like to incorporate both into their sessions.
Here is an example from one of my recent newborn sessions with a bit more of an elaborate setup using props and florals and an outfit and headband set.
And above is a simple, yet beautiful portrait of a baby girl using no props at all, just a simple wrap covering her nappy area. In my opinion, both are beautiful and both have their place in my newborn sessions. But some prefer one over the other - so perhaps this is something for you to think about when it comes to booking your newborn session. EXPERIENCE Whilst the look and overall style of the photographer is important, it's equally as vital that the photographer is experienced in the art of newborn photography. Make sure your photographer has plenty of experience working with and handling newborns so that you can be sure they are able to correctly pose your baby in a safe way. Taking a look at their recent reviews is also a great way to gauge whether clients are happy with their photos and overall experience with their newborn photoshoot.

PRICING & PRODUCTS
Once you have found a photographer you like, get in touch to hear more about their pricing and packages. It is important that you are completely clear on their approach to pricing as this can vary from photographer to photographer. Additionally, it may be worth enquiring about turn-around times and the products they offer.
FAMILY & SIBLING PORTRAITS
Are family and sibling portraits included in the session fee? This is one of my most frequently asked questions and one you should be asking your newborn photographer. For some photographers, this can be purchased as an add-on, but for others this is included in your session fee.

Are you looking to book a Newborn Session?
Newborn sessions are best booked for when baby is between 1 to 2 weeks old. This is because they are still all curled up, like how they were in the womb and are still very sleepy. That being said, I am more than happy to book in babies for newborn sessions up to 8 weeks of age.
As a mum myself, I can completely appreciate how it might be difficult to get the time to fit in a newborn photoshoot in those first few weeks, on top of everything else you've got going on! I wouldn't discourage you from considering a newborn session if you've missed that golden window to book. "Older" newborns can sometimes be just as easy to pose as a baby that's only a couple of days old - regardless of your newborns age, we can capture some beautiful images for you and your family to cherish for years to come.
If you're interested in booking your newborn session with me, I suggest getting in touch no later than after your 20 week scan. If your baby is already here, you're more than welcome to get in touch - I always leave a few spaces free every month for last minute bookings.
