Baby Alyssa was just over a month old when she came to see me for her studio photography session in Aldershot, Hampshire. Her family had booked in for a Family session - wanting to capture some forever memories of their beautiful newborn baby girl.

Many of my clients have only just given birth a few days prior to coming to see me and I can absolutely appreciate that as a new mum, you may not feel your best. Getting in front of a camera may be the last thing you feel like doing but I so recommend having at least one or two photos taken of you with your newborn - this is a time you will never get back and I have only had clients say how much they regretted not having a few photos done of them with their baby!

If you've ever been to my photography studio in Aldershot, Hampshire (or know someone that has), you'll know I am a bit of a prop-a-holic! I have a large collection of little newborn outfits, bonnets, wraps, headbands, wraps and almost everything else needed for a styled newborn photo session. But that doesn't mean that I don't enjoy styling very simplistic, natural newborn sessions. As much as I love incorporating props, greenery and flowers, I also love the simple and very natural setups just as much.
Alyssa's parents had one very unique request - to include their dog Winston in a couple of the photos. I love how these turned out, Winston was the sweetest, most gentle dog and made my job incredibly easy! What I love most of all is making each and every session unique and tailor made to my clients wants and wishes. I have clients that prefer a pop of colour and others request neutrals. Whatever my clients' style, I have something to suit anyone's taste.

This beautiful blue wrap compliments her eyes so well! She was such a sweetheart.
At just over a month old old, Alyssa was very alert and wide-eyed, she followed the camera around with her eyes and showed lots of interest in everything around her.

Are you looking to book a Newborn Session?
Newborn sessions are best booked for when baby is between 1 to 2 weeks old. This is because they are still all curled up, like how they were in the womb and are still very sleepy. That being said, I am more than happy to book in babies for newborn sessions up to 8 weeks of age.
As a mum myself, I can completely appreciate how it might be difficult to get the time to fit in a newborn photoshoot in those first few weeks, on top of everything else you've got going on! I wouldn't discourage you from considering a newborn session if you've missed that golden window to book. "Older" newborns can sometimes be just as easy to pose as a baby that's only a couple of days old - regardless of your newborns age, we can capture some beautiful images for you and your family to cherish for years to come.
If you're interested in booking your newborn session with me, I suggest getting in touch no later than after your 20 week scan. If your baby is already here, you're more than welcome to get in touch - I always leave a few spaces free every month for last minute bookings.
