Welcome to the world, beautiful Baby Xavier!
I had the pleasure of catching up with this lovely family a few months ago, when they came to visit me in my Aldershot, Hampshire photography studio. I had previously captured big brother George's newborn portraits, so I was super excited to catch up with this lovely family once again and to capture some more keepsake images for them to look back on and cherish! Xavier was such a calm and peaceful soul, he was content throughout his session and didn't make a peep! He loved being swaddled, having cuddles with mummy and daddy and loved cuddles with big brother George even more!
Navy was one of the colours requested by Arlo's mummy and daddy. I don't often get requests for navy, but I LOVE this colour on newborns and it suits Xavier's delicate skin beautifully.

I just adore sibling shots. The interaction between the older sibling and their new bundle of joy is just magical - it's clear to see how in love this big brother is with his gorgeous little brother!
When I direct sibling shots, I try to let the interaction happen naturally. Sometimes I will give the siblings some pointers as to how best to support baby's head and body, or make minor adjustments to tilt baby's head slightly towards the camera, but I always find the non-posed shots come across so much better, and they're almost always the ones that end up being parent favourites too.
And here's another one of my "must have" shots for all of my galleries - including parents hands! Incorporating mummy and daddy's hands is something I always try to do in my newborn sessions - they grow so fast and there's something so special about being able to look back, remembering just how tiny your little one used to be.
Did you know that I always leave plenty of time to include family shots as part of my newborn sessions? I always recommend having a few family photos done as part of your newborn session - I've had clients deciding not to, only to message me and say how badly they regretted not having it done!
As a mum myself, I know firsthand how you will very likely have a full camera roll of photos of your precious baby, but a fraction of those will be of you/your partner and baby and even fewer of all of you together as a family. You may not feel you look your best right after having your baby but this is a time you will never get back!
Beautiful baby boy in navy. His parents had requested neutral colours along with different tones of blues and browns. I loved preparing for this session and picking out different fabrics and textures to compliment each other. Arlo looks stunning in every single colour they chose, it was so difficult for me to narrow down the images to use for this blog! No wonder his mummy and daddy struggled to choose their favourites - I know I wouldn't have been able to choose either!
And another favourite, I just love this shot of Baby Xavier in this adorable wrap and matching bear bonnet. This is just one of many sets I have available in my studio wardrobe, for clients to use throughout their newborn sessions. My photography studio in Aldershot, Hampshire is full of beautiful handmade outfits in a variety of different styles and beautiful bespoke props - I am a self confessed prop-a-holic, but I want to be able to provide parents with exactly the style and feel they're after.
Whenever I can, I love capturing some posed portraits of the little ones all curled up. This isn't always possible, especially if baby is awake as they tend to want to put their hands straight in their mouth! But Baby Xavier was such a sleepy little boy, I was able to easily position and pose him for some beautiful, simple portraits on a white background.
This image incorporates another one of the more highly requested colours by Xavier's mummy and daddy - white!
I really enjoyed meeting Baby Xavier and catching up with his lovely family once again- it was such a pleasure seeing you all again!

Are you looking to book a newborn session?
Newborn sessions are best booked for when baby is between 1 to 3 weeks old. This is because they are still all curled up, like how they were in the womb and are still very sleepy. That being said, I am more than happy to book in babies for newborn sessions up to 8 weeks of age.
As a mum myself, I can completely appreciate how it might be difficult to get the time to fit in a newborn photoshoot in those first few weeks, on top of everything else you've got going on! I wouldn't discourage you from considering a newborn session if you've missed that golden window to book. "Older" newborns can sometimes be just as easy to pose as a baby that's only a couple of days old - regardless of your newborns age, we can capture some beautiful images for you and your family to cherish for years to come.
If you're interested in booking your newborn session with me, I suggest getting in touch no later than after your 20 week scan. If your baby is already here, you're more than welcome to get in touch - I always leave a few spaces free every month for last minute bookings.
