Welcome to the world, beautiful Baby Arlo!

I had the pleasure of meeting this sweet little boy and his parents a few months ago, when they came to visit me in my Aldershot, Hampshire photography studio. Arlo was such a calm and peaceful soul, he was content throughout his session and didn't make a peep! He loved being swaddled, having cuddles with mummy and daddy and loved my Baby Shusher! It's my go-to white noise machine and my trusted side kick when I've got newborns in the studio - it never fails me!

Mustard was one of the colours requested by Arlo's mummy and daddy. I don't often get requests for mustard, but I LOVE this colour on newborns and it suits Arlo's delicate skin beautifully.

I just adore family shots. The interaction between the parents and their new bundle of joy is just magical - it's clear to see how in love these two are with their gorgeous little boy. These silhouetted shots are my favourite and they've quickly become my signature shot - I feel like they capture emotion in a way a full front lit shot wouldn't.

When I direct family shots, I try to let the interaction happen naturally. Sometimes I will give the parents some pointers as to how best to support baby's head and body, or make minor adjustments to tilt baby's head slightly towards the camera, but I always find the non-posed shots come across so much better, and they're almost always the ones that end up being parent favourites too.

And look at this sweet moment I captured between Arlo and his gorgeous mummy! I'm so in love with this shot - that sweet little smirk on Arlo's face is priceless! It's clear to see his favourite place is in mummy's loving arms.

Did you know that I always leave plenty of time to include family shots as part of my newborn sessions? I always recommend having a few family photos done as part of your newborn session - I've had clients deciding not to, only to message me and say how badly they regretted not having it done! As a mum myself, I know firsthand how you will very likely have a full camera roll of photos of your precious baby, but a fraction of those will be of you/your partner and baby and even fewer of all of you together as a family. You may not feel you look your best right after having your baby but this is a time you will never get back!

Safe and snug - lulled to sleep in Daddy's arms. Incorporating mummy and daddy's hands is something I always try to do in my newborn sessions - they grow so fast and there's something so special about being able to look back, remembering just how tiny your little one used to be.

Beautiful baby boy in brown. His parents had requested neutral colours along with different tones of blues and browns. I loved preparing for this session and picking out different fabrics and textures to compliment each other. Arlo looks stunning in every single colour they chose, it was so difficult for me to narrow down the images to use for this blog! No wonder his mummy and daddy decided to buy the entire gallery - I know I wouldn't have been able to choose either!

And another favourite, I just love this shot of Baby Arlo in this adorable little romper and matching sleepy hat. This is just one of many outfits I have available in my studio wardrobe, for clients to use throughout their newborn sessions. My photography studio in Aldershot, Hampshire is full of beautiful handmade outfits in a variety of different styles and beautiful bespoke props - I am a self confessed prop-a-holic, but I want to be able to provide parents with exactly the style and feel they're after.

Whenever I can, I love getting their cute little hands out of the wrap. This isn't always possible, especially if baby is awake as they tend to want to put their hands straight in their mouth! But Baby Arlo was such a sleepy little boy, I was able to have his little hands out for the majority of the session.

This image incorporates another one of the more unique colours requested by Arlo's mummy and daddy - duck egg blue!

As a small business owner, there's honestly not a better feeling than receiving glowing reviews - a massive thank you to Baby Arlo's mummy for leaving this heartwarming review.

"Yasmin is amazing! She produces some fantastic pictures. She was a dream with our little boy and was very gentle and calm. Not only is she amazing at what she does, she is also a genuinely down to earth person and I felt so comfortable talking to her about everyday things. If you like what you see, book yourselves in you will not be disappointed in the slightest! Thank you Yasmin you are a star⭐️ can’t wait for our little sitters session later on in the year. Xx" - Soph W

I really enjoyed meeting Baby Arlo and his lovely mummy and daddy - it was such a pleasure getting to know you all! Cannot wait to see him again in a few months time for his Little Sitter session.

Are you looking to book a newborn session?

Newborn sessions are best booked for when baby is between 1 to 3 weeks old. This is because they are still all curled up, like how they were in the womb and are still very sleepy. That being said, I am more than happy to book in babies for newborn sessions up to 8 weeks of age.

As a mum myself, I can completely appreciate how it might be difficult to get the time to fit in a newborn photoshoot in those first few weeks, on top of everything else you've got going on! I wouldn't discourage you from considering a newborn session if you've missed that golden window to book. "Older" newborns can sometimes be just as easy to pose as a baby that's only a couple of days old - regardless of your newborns age, we can capture some beautiful images for you and your family to cherish for years to come.

If you're interested in booking your newborn session with me, I suggest getting in touch no later than after your 20 week scan. If your baby is already here, you're more than welcome to get in touch - I always leave a few spaces free every month for last minute bookings.

If you would like to make a booking, please don't hesitate to get in touch either via my contact form here or send me an email at and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
