Baby Jacob was just under 2 weeks old when he came to see me for his studio newborn session in Aldershot, Hampshire. His mummy had gotten in touch a couple of months before her due date and booked in well in advance. As I tend to book up quite early on, I definitely recommend getting in touch as early as possible - after the 20-week scan at the latest, to secure a space. Jacob arrived slightly after his due date and we got him booked in straight away!

Jacob's parents were just amazing! Incredibly sweet, down to earth and just so excited to be parents. The love they have for their little boy is so evident - I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them.
Having a chat with the parents is always one of my favourite things about my job. I really want my clients to feel comfortable and to be able to fully relax during the session. The journey to my Hampshire studio is often the family's first outing as a trio! So a lot of times nerves are high upon arrival, but after a nice cuppa and a chat and a laugh, they always settle in and enjoy being able to sit back and let me work my magic!
Jacob's mummy and daddy had chosen a rather unique combination of colours - royal blue and yellow - exactly like the colour scheme they had picked out for their wedding! Isn't that just the sweetest?
Jacob was such a little star, he was so good to me and slept through his entire session!
I always include all white set-ups as part of my newborn session - there's just something so precious and angelic about a sleepy newborn in white and the colour definitely suits little Jacob! His sweet little pout in the image below just gets me - he's just stunning and looks so peaceful!

I really love incorporating keepsakes or something unique to you as a family - perhaps your wedding bands or engagement rings, like in the image above. It's a reminder of how tiny their little feet were too! They grow so quickly, it's all about preserving those little moments and creating forever memories ♡ Thank you for coming to see me Baby Jacob, I really enjoyed getting to know you and your lovely parents!
Are you looking to book a newborn session?
Newborn sessions are best booked for when baby is between 1 to 3 weeks old. This is because they are still all curled up, like how they were in the womb and are still very sleepy. That being said, I am more than happy to book in babies for newborn sessions up to 8 weeks of age.
As a mum myself, I can completely appreciate how it might be difficult to get the time to fit in a newborn photoshoot in those first few weeks, on top of everything else you've got going on! I wouldn't discourage you from considering a newborn session if you've missed that golden window to book. "Older" newborns can sometimes be just as easy to pose as a baby that's only a couple of days old - regardless of your newborns age, we can capture some beautiful images for you and your family to cherish for years to come.
If you're interested in booking your newborn session with me, I suggest getting in touch no later than after your 20 week scan. If your baby is already here, you're more than welcome to get in touch - I always leave a few spaces free every month for last minute bookings.
