Handsome Baby M was just over 2 weeks old when his mummy and daddy brought him into the studio for his newborn session. I am way behind on sharing my sessions on my blog which means that Baby M is now in fact just over 2 months old! I can only imagine how much he has changed since his newborn session. This is one of the reasons why I love photography so much - being able to capture a moment and in essence, freeze time. I'm so proud to be able to provide families with their own little forever memories of their precious newborns ♡ Keep scrolling to see some of my favourite photos from his newborn session.
I love my job as a photographer for a lot of reasons, but one of my favourite parts of my day is meeting all the families ♡
Bringing a new little human into this world is probably the most special time in your life. Meeting families in this stage of their life reminds me so much of how I felt when I was at that stage myself. Such an amazing and overwhelming time. Sometimes you feel unstoppable and on top of the world and other times you can feel so utterly helpless and alone. In those moments I just want to give a big hug to all the new mums and tell them that it'll all be okay, that they will be okay. During my sessions, I always love getting to know the parents and if I can, offer advice and support.
Did you know that I always leave plenty of time to include family shots as part of my newborn sessions? For the family shots I suggest wearing neutral tones in similar colours as seen in the image above.
Ahhh.. Just look at that cute little wrinkly forehead! This is probably my favourite image from his shoot. His parents had requested earthy browns and neutral tones - I went through a period with a lot of requests for white and creams earlier this year, so I was really excited to set up for this session! And I just love this little bear bonnet ♡

Black and white shots have a special place in my heart. For a long time, I've considered offering a free black and white version of all of the digitals that my clients order. I feel like just converting a photo into black and white, it can sometimes tell an entirely different story! This photo was (of course) gorgeous in both black and white but I settled on this one to finish off the blog.
Are you looking to book a newborn session?
Newborn sessions are best booked for when baby is between 1 to 3 weeks old. This is because they are still all curled up, like how they were in the womb and are still very sleepy. That being said, I am more than happy to book in babies for newborn sessions up to 8 weeks of age.
As a mum myself, I can completely appreciate how it might be difficult to get the time to fit in a newborn photoshoot in those first few weeks, on top of everything else you've got going on! I wouldn't discourage you from considering a newborn session if you've missed that golden window to book. "Older" newborns can sometimes be just as easy to pose as a baby that's only a couple of days old - regardless of your newborns age, we can capture some beautiful images for you and your family to cherish for years to come.
If you're interested in booking your newborn session with me, I suggest getting in touch no later than after your 20 week scan. If your baby is already here, you're more than welcome to get in touch - I always leave a few spaces free every month for last minute bookings.
