Happy 1st Birthday to the sweetest little boy Thomas ♡ He came to visit me a couple of weeks ago for his Peter Rabbit inspired 1st Birthday Cake Smash session in my photography studio in Aldershot, Hampshire. His parents had chosen a lovely classic setup incorporating baby blue, gold and white balloons. I love how it all came together! This was my second time meeting Thomas and his family - last time I saw them, Thomas was just a tiny squishy newborn! It always makes me so happy when my previous clients return to the studio, I love nothing more than having a little catch-up and of course seeing the little ones, all grown up! CAKE SMASH PHOTOGRAPHER IN SURREY, HAMPSHIRE, BERKSHIRE
Part 1 - The Portrait Session I always start out the session by capturing a few shots of the birthday boy or girl in a lovely outfit, either chosen from the studio wardrobe or brought along from home. Thomas loved playing peek-a-boo with the balloons!
The Portrait part of your Cake Smash session is all about capturing your little one in a simple, timeless way. The Cake Smash setups are usually colourful and messy, so having a very simple setup gives a nice contrast and also allows you to take home some beautiful, natural photos of your little one.
Part 2 - The Cake Smash!
Some little ones aren't as keen on smashing up their cake as their parents had anticipated! It can be a little overwhelming for a one year old to have a huge cake placed in front of them, to do with as they wish - but Camille was all smiles and loved squishing up the cake with her fingers!
One of my favourite parts of shooting a Cake Smash Session is seeing their reaction to having their cake placed in front of them - it can vary from disbelief to pure and utter joy! It's very likely the first time in their life that they've had a whole cake put in front of them to do with what they wish, so you never quite know how they're going to react! Camille was all smiles and thoroughly enjoyed the sensory experience!

Part 3 - Splish, Splash, Splosh
Cake smash sessions can get very messy so bath time is the perfect way to clean up whilst having fun!
The warm bubble bath at the end is often the little one's favourite part of the session - and Thomas was no exception! He absolutely loved bath time and enjoyed a good splash ♡

Are you looking to book a cake smash session for your little one?
My cake smash & splash sessions start with capturing a few shots of your little one in an outfit of your choice (either one picked out of my studio wardrobe or one you've brought yourself). Then we get your little one changed into their cake smash outfit and let them have some fun getting stuck into their cake! Some children are initially not that keen on getting messy and may need a bit of gentle encouragement, others take to it straight away and relish the opportunity to get messy! The final part of the session is a nice, warm bath in my washtub with lots of bubbles.
A Cake Smash & Splash is a fun-packed session and a unique way to commemorate a birthday, whether that be a 1st, 2nd or 3rd birthday!
