Happy 1st Birthday to gorgeous baby Louie ♡ This was my second time meeting Louie and his family, so I was of course very excited to see them all again! His mum had requested a fun hot air balloon themed setup and I was sooo excited to get creative with this setup. The last time I had the pleasure of seeing Louie was back in 2020 for his newborn session - he was an absolute star, slept like a dream and was such a pleasure to photograph. Fast forward to now and I couldn't quite believe how much he had grown! It honestly means the world to me when my clients return to the studio for updated photos and it was so wonderful catching up with this lovely family again. CAKE SMASH PHOTOGRAPHER IN SURREY, HAMPSHIRE, BERKSHIRE
Part 1 - The Portrait Session I always offer to start out the session by capturing a few shots of the birthday boy or girl in a lovely outfit, either chosen from the studio wardrobe or brought along from home. But this is entirely optional - Louie's mummy was happy to get him dressed in his cake smash outfit straight away, so that's what we did!
The Portrait part of your Cake Smash session is all about capturing your little one in a simple, timeless way. The Cake Smash setups are usually bright and colourful, so having a very simple setup for this part of the session can sometimes be a nice contrast.

Part 2 - The Cake Smash!
Some little ones aren't as keen on smashing up their cake as their parents might have anticipated! It can be a little overwhelming for a one year old to have a huge cake placed in front of them, to do with as they wish - but Louie took to it straight away and absolutely loved tucking into his cake!
One of my favourite parts of shooting a Cake Smash Session is seeing their reaction to having their cake placed in front of them - it can vary from disbelief to pure and utter joy! It's very likely the first time in their life that they've had a whole cake put in front of them to do with what they wish, so you never quite know how they're going to react!

Part 3 - Splish, Splash, Splosh
Cake smash sessions can get very messy so bath time is the perfect way to clean up whilst having fun!

I love nothing more than watching my clients' babies grow and develop, which is why it means so much to me when my clients return to the studio, allowing me to photograph their babies growing up ♡ It was such a pleasure to see Louie and his lovely family again, thank you so much for choosing me as your Cake Smash photographer!
Are you looking to book a cake smash session for your little one?
My cake smash & splash sessions start with capturing a few shots of your little one in an outfit of your choice (either one picked out of my studio wardrobe or one you've brought yourself). Then we get your little one changed into their cake smash outfit and let them have some fun getting stuck into their cake! Some children are initially not that keen on getting messy and may need a bit of gentle encouragement, others take to it straight away and relish the opportunity to get messy! The final part of the session is a nice, warm bath in my washtub with lots of bubbles.
A Cake Smash & Splash is a fun-packed session and a unique way to commemorate a birthday, whether that be a 1st, 2nd or 3rd birthday!
