Meet Little Lucas! This handsome munchkin is just the sweetest little chap you'll ever meet. So inquisitive and full of beans! I first met his lovely mummy and daddy back in December, when they brought Little L in for one of my Christmas Mini sessions. Back then, he was a confident sitter but hadn't quite mastered crawling - but a lot had changed in the few months since I last saw him! He is now like a bolt of lightning and it is evident that it wont be long before this little ball of energy is going to be taking his very first steps!
WOODLAND THEMED CAKE SMASH & SPLASH
His mummy had set her heart on a Woodland themed Cake Smash session - I had a few weeks to prepare for this session and had bought lots of props specifically for this session (even had a few things custom made!). I'm so excited to be able to add this to my list of themed Cake Smash & Splash sessions available for my clients to choose from!

Part 1 - The Portrait Session
Upon arrival, Little M was dressed in a lovely outfit that his mummy and daddy had chosen just for the occasion! I always start out the session by capturing a few shots of the little ones in a nice outfit, either chosen from the studio wardrobe or brought along from home.
For this session, his mummy and daddy had brought an outfit from home but also really wanted to use one of my handmade studio outfits once they saw it hanging up in the studio. As we were coming up to Easter, what would be more fitting than capturing a few shots of Little L wearing this gorgeous bunny outfit, custom made and sent all the way from Australia. He also happened to be the first little one to try the outfit on, as it had just arrived in the post earlier that week! I couldn't have asked for a more adorable model ♡
At this age it's all about engaging them with songs, games and play during the session. Little L loved nothing more than having mummy and daddy sing "Baby Shark" to him! The most important thing to me is that you and your little one have a great time in my studio, I want the experience to be fun and memorable - and of course, that means you'll get some stunning images to take home, capturing those authentic smiles and giggles we all love!
Part 2 - The Cake Smash!
I absolutely fell in love with this Woodland themed setup - the dark wooden floor and backdrop goes so well with the autumnal bunting and the greenery surrounding the wooden logs and I love that Little L's mummy brought along some of his woodland themed stuffed toys! It all just came together so nicely and I'm so pleased with the final outcome of this Woodland Themed Cake Smash setup!
When we put the cake down in front of him, he sat there - stunned for a minute. As if to say, "hang on, is that really all for me?". After getting the nod of approval from mummy and daddy, he hesitantly poked the cake and had a taste. From there on, he quickly progressed to grabbing fistfuls! I think it's safe to say, he absolutely LOVED his cake!
One of my favourite parts of shooting a Cake Smash Session is seeing their reaction to having their cake placed in front of them - it can vary from disbelief to pure and utter joy! It's very likely the first time in their life that they've had a whole cake put in front of them to do with what they wish, so you never quite know how they're going to react!
Part 3 - Splish, Splash, Splosh Cake smash sessions can get very messy so bath time is the perfect way to clean up whilst having fun! Little L had the best time in the bath, he was having so much fun splashing around! Behind the scenes, mummy was helping me blow bubbles and he loved trying to pop them in mid-air. Just look at that adorable smile!
I'm so honoured that Little L's mummy and daddy brought him to see me again and chose me to document this special time in his life. This was such a fun session, from start to finish! Are you looking to book a cake smash session for your little one?
My cake smash & splash sessions start with capturing a few shots of your little one in an outfit of your choice (either one picked out of my studio wardrobe or one you've brought yourself). Then we get your little one changed into their cake smash outfit and let them have some fun getting stuck into their cake! Some children are initially not that keen on getting messy and may need a bit of gentle encouragement, others take to it straight away and relish the opportunity to get messy! The final part of the session is a nice, warm bath in my washtub with lots of bubbles.
A Cake Smash & Splash is a fun-packed session and a unique way to commemorate a birthday, whether that be a 1st, 2nd or 3rd birthday!
